Rain Collection Barrels – Achla Rain Barrels For Sale

If you are looking to conserve water, rain collection barrels are a terrific option. The rain harvesting devices allow you to collect water that would otherwise just run off of your property and never get used.  As this method of collecting water is gaining popularity, the number of these rain barrels on the market has been increasing recently. This review is of the Achla RB-03 model.

Just from an initial visual appearance, this rain barrel different than most others. Today, most of the rain barrels that you can find on the market today are round.  The Achla RB-03 is rectangular. From a placement standpoint, this type of shape offers great advantages -- chiefly the fact that it is flat on its side means that you can place it closer to a wall without have any wasted space.  Since it's rectangular, it also takes up far less space than most round barrels.

Another advantage that this particular rain barrel has over other rain collection barrels is its color -- it's brown.  The brown shade allows the barrel to blend in with most, typical garden environments and color schemes.  A number of other rain barrels are green, and although green is probably a color that you think of with regard to gardening, the green barrels usually jump off the scene, visually, and are therefore quite noticeable. Of course, you may not view this as an advantage as color selection is a very personal decision.

The Achla has it spigot on the very bottom of the barrel. This is superior to most other rain barrels as it allows you to harvest all of the water from the barrel without having to tip it over which can be clumsy and awkward.

Since the barrels are rectangular, instead of round, you can easily place multiple units right next to one another.  This allows you to collect even more rain water and store it in a smaller space. This is a great way to conserve water, save money, and help the environment.

A vast majority of the rain collection barrels that you can buy today are made of some type of plastic. The Achla RB-03 rain catcher is no exception. It too is made of durable plastic so it will last a very long time. Unlike most other models, it has a very nice, wood-grained finish.

There are many rain collection barrels on the market today. The Achla RB=-3 has many distinct advantages over some of the other rain barrels for sale today.  If you are in the market to purchase one or more rain barrels, this model is worth consideration.

I compared prices on rain barrels before I finally bought this one. Some were so expensive (and VERY ugly). This one is reasonably priced and blends in well with my split-log sided home. Another huge plus is the hose connection is all the way at the bottom of the barrel so you can use every last drop of water. Most rain barrels have the hose connection at least a few inches from the bottom so there's water you can't get to. Connecting an overflow hose required a little work with a Dremmel tool and a few dollars at the local hardware store for the hose and a connector, but nothing too difficult. All in all, definately worth the price and the small amount of work.
Just ordered another one

Thanks to the other review of this product, we chose to get this rain barrel out of the many offered. It was easy to set up and after just one steady half-hour rain, the barrel is half full, so I'm back to order another one to link with the first one.

The information said that there is a linking "kit" included with each barrel, but I didn't get one of those with the first order- if it isn't included in the second one, we'll have to rig up a link between the two. Shouldn't be too hard.

The flat shape sits against the wall and doesn't look bad at all and takes up less space than a round barrel.

Excellent price and with Prime, an even better deal.

The rain barrel that I purchased was exactly as pictured. It was filled after our first thunderstorm. The barrel is a little more costly than those blue rain barrels, but the wood grain coordinates with my vinyl siding and the flat sides allow it to hug the house and blend into the landscaping. I will warn anyone who is going to attempt a Y downspout connection that these are about 1/3 the cost of the rain barrel! We just used a flexible connection and let the barrel overflow when full.

The rain catchers are very effective (we installed two of them) . I liked that they were brown and rectangular which made them more inconspicous against the house. Since they hold only 50 gallons, they fill up very quickly. I wish that they would have had some directions about putting in an overflow drain. There was no mention of it at all and you definitely want to have one. Suggesting the type of connector would have been helpful.

Reviewer: Erin,
We bought this rain catcher after discovering an area of our house where the gutters cannot the heavy rains. This is the perfect catcher with a good screen to keep out the bugs and a hose that allows the water to flow out into a watering can easily. Given that we are trying to be greener by reusing our rain water it was nice to see that the company is also greener by using very little packing materials to ship (I think it came wrapped only in a thick plastic - no box.

Collecting rain water is a great thing to do. It helps on several levels. It allows you to do something good for the environment by reusing water instead of wasting it. It lowers your over expenses as you can use the water instead if turning on your garden hose and getting more municipal water.

You can collect a lot of water coming off of your roof. The Achla RB-03 holds 50 gallons. Many rain barrels host about this much water. Since these barrels fit next to each other easily, you could get several and collect considerably more water -- i.e. if you have three barrels lined up right next to each other, you can collect 150 gallons of water before you would need to harvest the water.

As you can see, many people consider the Achla RB-03 one of the more worthwhile rain collection barrels available. If this is not the barrel for you, click here to see the best selling rain barrels for sale today.
